As part of a Halloween writing contest, and in the
spirit of Halloween, I decided to write seven short children stories. Below is day two's. If you like my short story please let me know in the comments below. Each of these will be short, 100
words or less. It's the contest rules and it has been fun trying to make it work. Wish me luck!
One Last Trick - Chris Shumate
Thomas remembered the fun he had before trick-or-treating.
“Do you want to help hand out candy?” Dad asked.
“Nah, I’m going to play video games.”
He went upstairs but video games weren’t part of his plans. He put in vampire teeth after dressing in a costume he had hidden. He grabbed a bag to fill, then went out the window into the dark.
A haunting figure stood in the shadows beside Thomas’ house. His heart pounded.
“I hope you had fun tonight,” Dad emerged and reached for the bag. “It’ll be a while before you have candy again.”
