The #1 Reason You Should Put Your Kids in the Kid's Ministry

Throughout February I've focused on Kid's Ministry in my posts.

I've talked about what everyone ought to know about serving in Kid's Ministry.

Next I gave you 5 reasons you should be serving in Kid's Ministry.

Last week I addressed 2 crazy reasons people don't put their kids in the Kid's Ministry at church.

This week I want to give you my number 1 reason why you should put your kids in your church's kid's ministry. There are several reasons why you should put your kids in the kid's ministry, which is why I am telling you it is my number 1 reason.

My #1 Reason: It's about discipling the next generation to be disciple makers

Just before Jesus left His disciples He told them to "Go and make disciples of all the nations...teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20).

Jesus' Great Commission wasn't only for the first century followers; the Great Commission is just as important today as it was then. People who are not in a relationship with Jesus are in need of Him. He is worthy to be worshiped by the people of the world. This includes children, who are the hope and future of the world.

Since sharing the Gospel to the world is our primary goal based on Jesus' instructions, kids should be in the kid's ministry so that they can have the Gospel shared with them. Kids who are not in a ministry where they get to hear the Gospel on their level are truly missing out on the best that God has for them.

Think of it like this, your kid didn't start school in college, right? They started in kindergarten, maybe even a pre-k program. From kindergarten kids progress in their education and activities they use to learn their lessons. Kid's need the same thing in their church life. Putting kids in the adult worship service to hear a message that pertains to adults is like taking your kindergartner and enrolling them into college.

While kids are in the age-appropriate learning experience for  them, they are learning about Jesus on their level. They are being discipled by volunteers who love Jesus. I, for one, enjoy being a small group leader for elementary kids. I enjoy being on stage acting as a  host and being part of the story being taught to kids.

Within the kid's ministry worship experience the people serving the kids are fulfilling the call Jesus gave in Matthew 28:19-20. Your little one needs to know that God made them, God loves them, and He wants to be their friend forever. They need to hear it on their level.

The kid's ministry cannot be the only place kids get discipled; parents and caregivers need to doing their part during the other six days. It is hard to do that, believe me I know. But that is another reason why children need to be in kid's ministry activities.

It truly is about making disciples of the next generation.
